My name is Kerry and I'm the founder of Fun Foundations.
My background is in education. I am an experienced Primary teacher. I have a double honours degree in French and drama from Manchester University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Cambridge University.
I began a break from primary teaching when we started our family. I have had the pleasure of being at home with my two girls in the fundamental years of their lives. During this period I have spent a lot of time investigating purposeful, educational activities that are age appropriate and have the aim of helping my children to develop naturally and in an enjoyable way. We all know that learning is enjoyable if it is fun! This philosophy transfers to Fun Foundations sessions.
I decided to set up Fun Foundations because I wanted to offer a class that was different to the rest. I have taken my girls to different classes and watched them participate with full enthusiasm, continually gaining confidence and self-esteem as well as developing an interest. As a parent and educator, I hope that my class aims to do all this and more; children will be engaged in activities that will stimulate their creative minds but also allow them to develop their knowledge of basic skills, providing them with a good grounding for their school careers and support for their literacy and numeracy development. Parents and carers will also benefit, spending time observing and supporting children within the lesson and also continuing the good work at home with suggested take away activities.
